If this version runs any speedier, at least that will make me happier. Personally, I'm still a Preview convert, but I still have to have Reader installed on my machine so that I can run other things on occasion (lame). ![]() The last time we talked about Acrobat, we sparked a healthy debate in the comments about the merits of using Acrobat Reader versus Preview on OS X. It's not too bad of a download at 20MB, either. You can download it directly from Adobe's website, and version 8 requires at least OS X 10.4.3. Reader 8 sports a "new" interface as well as new tools, it's integrated with Adobe Connect to have real-time meetings straight from the Reader, and GPU acceleration to make those graphics a bit zippier. Adobe Acrobat XI is the final version of Adobe Acrobat to support Windows XP, Windows Vista (unofficially bypassing installation, version X is the last officially-supported version) and OS X versions 10.6-10.8. ![]() It is also available for Mac OS X Snow Leopard or later. As it turns out, Adobe was telling the truth, because today they released the Universal Binary version of Acrobat Reader 8 for the Mac, only a month and a couple days later. Adobe Acrobat XI is available for Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Last month when Adobe released Acrobat 8 in Universal Binary, they said that Acrobat Reader wouldn't be out for another month.
